Temporary Traffic Control

History has shown that workers in the roadway, are at risk of being killed or disabled. With this in mind, The Federal Highway Administration created the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). In addition, state Department of Transportation (DOT) organizations have taken an active role in protecting these workers and the involved motorists.

START Group offers the following comprehensive training and loss control packages in temporary traffic control.

  • Evaluation of Current Level of Compliance - Completion of a site review of your organization’s equipment and policies regarding Temporary Traffic Control, along with assistance in developing policies and procedures. Formal written recommendations will be made regarding areas that need improvement.
  • Auditing the Temporary Traffic Control Zone Classroom Training Session - Completion of a turn-key, classroom training session reviewing the critical aspects of Chapters 1, 5, and 6 of the MUTCD relating to temporary traffic control zones, along with focusing on the auditing process of these work zones. Group problem solving and simulated audit scenarios will be completed.
  • Temporary Traffic Control Zone Classroom Training Session - Completion of a turn-key, classroom training session reviewing the critical aspects of Chapters 1, 5, and 6 of the MUTCD relating to temporary traffic control zones, along with focusing on the implementation of these principles in the work zone.
  • Quick Reference Guides- General information quick reference guides on Temporary Traffic Control activities are available through PSS and have been authored by START Group Director, Michael J. Kelly. In addition, state and/or Company specific quick reference guides are also available.
